    Responsible for the department's research component which identifies, researches and prioritizes individual, foundation, and corporate prospects who have a capacity to make a major gift to the hospital; supports the department's fundraising moves management and direct mail initiatives; and responsible for the retrieval and storage of the research file management systems which includes prospect and patient demographics and gift capacity ratings. He/she is will be responsible for ensuring research library tools are up-to-date and vendor contracts/subscriptions are actively reviewed and maintained. The Prospect Research Analyst is an important asset to the direct fundraising initiatives for major giving and direct mail and supports the bottom line fundraising efforts of the Development Office.

    Responsibilities

    • 1. Develop, implement and manage research systems and procedures for department's major gift and direct mail fundraising initiative.
      • 1.1 1.1. Indentify major gift prospects by researching and analyzing individual, foundation and corporate entities that have a capacity and inclination to support the hospital
    • 2. Manage research file systems and research library resources.
      • 2.1 Manages the research file systems which includes Ambassador Program updates, patient lists, prospect screening results, event briefings, National Change of Address (NCOA) updates, and patient opt-out requests submitted to the Development Office.
    • 3. Provides support for Department's move management polices and collaborates with Manager, Development Systems with special projects initiatives.
      • 3.1 Produces moves management review reports and ensures fundraising Action entries are entered in database systems in an accurate and timely manner. Communicates with fundraising staff on outstanding issues, incomplete procedures, and prospect status or assignment changes.
    • 4. 4. Serves as a backup resource to Development Systems staff during high volume gift processing periods

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION


    Associates Degree in Business or Library Sciences or equivalent experience required. Bachelors Degree preferred.


    EXPERIENCE


    Three (3) to Four (4) years experience with development fundraising research and the Raiser's Edge, or equivalent, database system and highly proficient knowledge of data mining with Lexis-Nexis and WealthEngine screening systems or equivalent. Prior experience with EPIC reporting systems preferred.


    SPECIAL SKILLS


    A complete understanding of prospect research and how it relates to major gifts and moves management fundraising concepts. Must have excellent understanding of Microsoft Office programs and research tools such as Raiser?s Edge, LexisNexis, WealthEngine, online resources and how these tools can be utilized to produce and analyze donor file systems. Required to collaborate with research library vendors and ensure the needs of the Development Office are met. Expertise with donor research methodology and practice, including wealth indicators and data analysis. The ability to think critically, assess and translate information into comprehensive prospect and donor profiles. Demonstrated record of initiative, problem solving and adaptability. Ability to independently coordinate production of projects accurately and on deadline. Strong collaborative work skills and a high attention to details. Proven ability to responsibly handle confidential and sensitive information and maintain a strict adherence to donor confidentiality, HIPAA, and related professional and organizational guidelines. Must possess and understanding of the different components of a Development Office and the importance of research to each area.
