This position requires a clinically proficient individual experienced in areas of clinical data design, capture, management, querying and reporting. Possesses project management and business intelligence (BI) experience and customer service skills. Provides leadership and general technical and/or general data management guidance to all levels of staff for on-going and ad hoc projects in the areas of application development, data analysis, reporting, visual dashboards and complex scorecards. Must work closely with end -users to gather functional requirements, design detailed technical requirements and ensure proper testing and validation of data. Routinely works on several projects simultaneously. Extensive involvement in conducting analyses for multiple clinical, administrative, quality and regulatory requirements for all phases of transplant. Actively participates in transplant quality assurance and performance improvement. Responsible for ensuring data quality. Supports operational reporting including service line reporting, clinical analysis and financial ad hocs. This individual should have the ability and willingness to function effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Plan, coordinate and implement strategies for the inpatient and outpatient data needs as it relates to the transplant process, data capture and maximization of the electronic medical record and decision support systems.
    • 1.1 Responsible to provide consultation to providers, administration and clinical teams in defining user information requirements, conducting methods and procedures analysis and implementing system changes.
  • 2. Responsible for data reporting both internally and externally
    • 2.1 Provides general technical and/or general decision support guidance in the formulation of general application and reporting development strategies. Responsible for working with operational & clinical service line leaders to understand and identify departmental reporting and data needs.
  • 3. Responsible for collaborating with institutional and external resources on the design, development and implementation of information technology systems and software geared towards enhancing patient care delivery and service based workflows.
  • 4. Provide technical and educational support for transplant staff and physicians
    • 4.1 May become expert in the use of specific techniques or systems providing guidance to the staff in their use. Communicates effectively with operational staff by translating the technical specifications into general terminology.
  • 5. Actively participates in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives across transplant programs.
  • 6. Responsible for website design enhancements, production and maintenance of information in collaboration with YSM and YNHH standards and resources
  • 7. Responsible for data entry required by UNOS and CMS. Oversight for completing UNOS Teidi forms.
  • 8. Responsible for EPIC PHOENIX application, Design Build, Implementation and Support in conjunction with EPIC Team members
    • 8.1 8.1 Supports application implementation and maintenance including analysis, planning and preparation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Masters in Informatics or equivalent computer science degree required


EXPERIENCE


Minimum of 5-7 years experience in area of infomatics. Clinical transplant experience preferred. Knowledge of systems analysis and programming activities. EPIC experience preferred.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Strong leadership, communication and project management skills. Sharp analytical skills and sound clinical judgement. Ability to manage staff, processes, and projects internal and external to the department. Must be able to work independently with a strong focus on customer service and on time delivery.
