The primary function of the APRN in the Diabetes Center is to provide comprehensive care to the assigned speciality patient population, under the supervision of the program Medical Director (PMD) and the Program Manager. This nurse works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team providing consistency to both the program and outpatients. The APRN assists the residents with clinical work, documentation, paperwork, and ordering tests as well as works in a collaborative fashion with other services. Develop evidence based protocols and standards for all activities in the Diabetes Center.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


MSN. Graduate of Nurse Practitioner Masters Degree Program. Licensed and currently registered in the State of CT. ANA certification and prescriptive authority required


EXPERIENCE


Three (3) to five (5) year experience in general medicine/Diabetes or Critical Care or related field ideal. Previous experience in an advanced practice role preferred.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Excellent basic medical knowledge with clinical skills and judgement. Possess analytical skills to evaluate care needs, ability to gather relevant clinical data, perform thorough physical examinations, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and leadership abilities and exhibit good judgement and tact dealing with parents, families, and allied health professionals. Computer skills preferred.
