The Clinical Technologist works under and reports directly to the Technical Supervisor of the Clinical Cell Processing Laboratory in the Blood Bank. This Technologist is responsible for performing the processing and required testing in the Clinical Cell Processing Laboratory to ensure it meets the needs of the patients in the Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Cell Transplantation and Immunotherapy programs. In addition, this position will assist with routine tasks in the Stem Cell Laboratory when available.
BS degree in a Biological science or equivalent
Knowledge of and practical experience in aseptic techniques, knowledge of good manufacturing practices, experience in methods for processing patient cells and/or tissues for clinical transplantation/immunotherapy. Experience in computer programs such as Microsoft Access, Excel and Word. Minimum of 2-3 years experience working in a research lab or equivalent experience with cell processing
Knowledge of stem cell regulation and accreditation requirements preferred. Familiarity with personal computer (Excel, Word) desired. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interact with clinical trial sponsors and other hospital staff required. Must have excellent organizational skills.
Works predominantly in a clean room environment requiring the use of protective gowning often for prolonged periods of time. Requires the handling of liquid nitrogen and potentially biohazardous matierials. Expected to deliver products to patient's bedside and collect products from operating suites and other locations.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH CELL THERAPY PROCESSING IN A GMP LABORATORY REQUIRED.
