Yale-New Haven Hospital Surgical Services seek to achieve the highest level of quality and safe care as well as exceptional operational performance. The Surgery Services Patient Safety Nurse will lead a broad range of efforts aimed at ensuring conformance with the National Quality Forums safe practices and Joint Commission safety goals, achieving superior performance on publicly reported measures and sustaining a high reliability culture. The Surgical Services Patient Safety Nurse will lead quality initiatives in Surgery determined by the Hospitals Strategic Plan and the Department of Patient Services Quality and Safety Strategic Plan. The Patient Safety Nurse will also have responsibility for collating data and collaborating with the Surgery and Nursing Department to assure timely review of data and the development of continuous quality improvement. This position will lead interdisciplinary quality and safety projects; conduct peer reviews; identify and recommend system enhancements to promote patient safety and quality; conduct safety and quality educational programs. This position reports to the Director of Surgical Nursing and ultimately the Associate Chief Nursing Officer in connection with the Patient Safety and Quality Council.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. MSN in Nursing or Healthcare Related Field Preferred
A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in an ICU setting, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in performance improvement methodologies. Solid understanding of improvement methodologies and change management strategies. History of leading successful improvement work.
RN in Connecticut
Training in Change Acceleration Process (CAP) and Workout. Proven analytic and problem solving skills. Strong Computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint.
