The Pediatric Dentist, with the Pediatric Dentistry Program Director, participates in the operation of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program through oversight and training of residents and in the delivery of pediatric dental services in the out-patient clinics, hospital in-patient care, and operating room treatment; by providing direct patient care; and by coordinating and providing lectures, seminars, and clinical demonstrations to residents.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Assists Program Director in successful oversight of the pediatric dental residency program
    • 1.1 Assists the program director in establishing the pediatric dental resident schedules (didactics and lectures, clinical patient care, operating rooms, on-call and rotations) in collaboration with other directors and other teaching programs cooperating with Y-NHH dental service
  • 2. Participates in the operational success of the department through patient care, regulatory compliance, and other administrative responsibilities.
    • 2.1 Personally sees patients up to 40% of scheduled hours/week in the Pediatric Dental Center, OR, and other satellite facilities, in coordination with program director.
  • 3. Works with support and administrative personnel to improve:
    • 3.1 Patient recruitment to the office

Qualifications

EDUCATION


D.M.D./D.D.S. or equivalent professional degree. Must have completed an accredited postdoctoral training in Pediatric Dentistry. Certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, or Board Eligible, or educationally qualified for certification. Must have completed an accredited Pediatric Practice Residency Program with formal hospital training and experience equivalent to that in a Pediatric Practice Residency.


EXPERIENCE


Two years of continuous clinical Pediatric Dentistry practice inclusive of hospital based Pediatric Dentistry on at least a half time basis or two years of pediatriac dental experience as part of a hospital medical staff; at least two years of academic and administrative experience teaching in a Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program preferred; at least 2 years of pediatric operating room and behavioral management training and experience preferred; at least one year of basic science and/or clinical research experience preferred.


LICENSURE


D.M.D./D.D.S. or equivalent professional degree.
