Under the direction of the Manager for Oncology Pharmacy Services, the oncology clinical pharmacist is responsible for performing a variety of clinical activities necessary for the safe, effective and efficient treatment of the oncology patients with Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for appropriate review and verifcation of chemotherapy orders.
Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a B.S., M.S., or Pharm. D. degree. Completion of a PGY1 residency in hospital pharmacy and a PGY2 oncology specialty residency from accredited programs by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists is desirable but not required.
At least one (1) year's experience in a clinical practice setting, with oncology experience preferred.
Connecticut Pharmacist License
This individual should demonstrate knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics, and understand pharmacy systems of drug distribution, and formulary management. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with others is required. Experience in teaching and research activities is desirable. An in-depth knowledge of treatment of the oncology patient and oncology therapeutics is preferred.
We have oncology community-based care centers throughout Connecticut. This position will be based in one of the care centers. Specific locations will be discussed at time of interview.
